Check out this lottery simulator. Pick 5 numbers, pick how often you want to play, and it'll tell you how much money you would have lost. I simulated the equivalent of playing Mega Millions twice a week for 10 years. It cost me $1040 simulated dollars, I won back $145. I refreshed the site enough time for 2-3 lifetimes of lottery playing and my high score was a net gain of about -$850
